In 2009, the North Carolina Injury and Violence Prevention Branch (IVPB) led a statewide effort to bring together partners for input on the state's first plan for injury and violence prevention.
In late 2011 and into 2012, the IVPB reengaged its partners to take a look at progress towards implementing the plan. This check-in happened at the half-way mark of the five-year plan. An addendum to the original plan was created, which includes changes to the structure of the teams working to implement the plan, as well as new and revised objectives for the teams.
Changes to the plan can be found here: 2012 Strategic Plan Addendum (PDF 20 KB) To review and update the plan, a team from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) Gillings School of Global Public Health, Department of Health Behavior/ Injury Prevention Research Center was engaged. To review the full process that this team and the IVPB undertook, please review this report (PDF 1 MB).
For the full background on development of the plan, supporting data, and contributing partners please see the Original Full Strategic Plan: Building for Strength-North Carolina's State Plan for Preventing Injuries and Violence (PDF 3.38 MB).
After the mid-course evaluation and creation of the plan's addendum, the goals of the strategic plan were updated to reflect current needs for the state. Accordingly, the goal team structure was updated.
